What Are Neighborhood Matching Grants?
Neighborhood Matching Grants (NMG) are matching funds to eligible neighborhood-based organizations to help with improvement funds, beautification and make neighborhoods better places to live, work and play. Most North Carolina towns and cities have NMG initiatives for the 2019-2020 fiscal year. Request amounts vary by town and city.
Through Neighborhood Matching Grants, the towns and cities will fund projects, planned and implemented by residents, which will improve the livability of neighborhoods – including custom neighborhood signage like a custom-crafted boulder. Neighborhoods can also match funds through volunteer labor, professional services, material donations, and/or cash.
The NMG program purpose is to build neighborhood pride and resident involvement to …
- Leverage resident involvement and resources
- Develop and enhance community and Town/City partnerships
- Empower neighborhoods to solve local problems
- Beautification of the places we live, work and play
